During an emergency session held at the Security Council, Syria’s representative to the United Nations, Qusay al-Dahhak, denounced that the terrorist offensive in the northern part of the country could not have occurred without a joint operational order between Türkiye and Israel.

“The terrorist attack in Aleppo coincided with the influx of terrorists across the northern border and the intensification of external support, including military equipment, heavy weapons, vehicles, drones, modern communication technologies, and securing military and logistical supply lines,” al-Dahhak explained.

He asserted that the size and scope of the terrorist offensive demonstrate the support provided by regional and international parties that use terrorism as a tool to implement their foreign policy, attack the Syrian state and its security, and generate suffering among the Syrian population.

The official described the attack as a blatant violation of UN resolutions and de-escalation agreements approved by the Astana process, which confirms Syria’s commitment to sovereignty, independence, unity, territorial integrity, and combating terrorism.

Al-Dahhak demanded that the Security Council condemn the terrorist attack and compel countries operating these organizations to reverse their policies to prevent the establishment of a terrorist reality or the retention of civilian hostages by terrorists. He stated that this attack has pushed thousands of families from Aleppo to move towards areas under Syrian state control while those remaining in the city are facing difficult humanitarian conditions and attacks from armed groups.

Al-Dahhak emphasized that his country will continue to exercise its sovereign right and constitutional duty to fight against terrorism and take necessary measures to defend its citizens and liberate its lands from terrorists. He reaffirmed that Damascus has the capabilities to do so and hopes to receive support from member states of the Council.
